Hosts, Marion & Tony
Tony and I decided to make Nelson our retirement home in 2015. This is our 3rd lifestyle property since we met each other 30 years ago. When I'm not at home I'm working for a Nelson organic cosmetics company and I when I can I love to make clay sculptures.
My partner Tony is retired and is always keen to talk about cows, fishing, hunting and basically anything and everything.

Our home
If you are lucky you will see quail, rabbits and pheasants wandering around the garden. The NZ native Tui, Fantail and Wood pigeon are frequent visitors.. If you would like to see our Irish Dexter cattle herd, my partner Tony would love to show them to you.
The Area
Appleby Views is just a few minutes from Seifried Estate Winery and Rabbit Island. Moturoa Rabbit Island is the largest of a group of sandy islands lying in the Waimea Estuary at the head of Tasman Bay. Along its seaward side there is more than eight kilometres of safe sandy beach. This is the largest picnic area in the district. Much of the island is covered in pine plantations owned by the Tasman District Council.
The beach and public reserves are open for use during daylight hours only throughout the year and may be closed during times of high fire risk. The gates close at 5.00 pm during winter and 8:30pm in summer.

A popular activity for cyclists and walkers is to follow the Great Taste cycleway on Rabbit Is then take the Mapua ferry across to the popular Mapua wharf precinct. Inspect the Maritime Museum on the wharf, view the moored boats, then enjoy lunch at one of the vibrant selection of restaurants and cafes. After lunch why not take a look at the galleries, craft shops or local attractions. You could hire a bike or else walk the trail to Ruby Bay.
